The next Club meeting is Monday June 4th at 7:30p in the Sisseton Room at the Holiday Inn. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to attend.

On the Agenda will be discussion regarding the insurance claim on the ATV and discussing options for replacement.

I will be sending out a separate email regarding the races.  To make a long story short we decided not to hold the races this upcoming year due to a combination of different factors (NSSR, volunteers and participation).  This next winter we will focus on having more fun with club rides and trail stops to encourage new members to join.

Greg reported on highlights from the Region meeting.  The most notable hot button issue going on now is trail funding.  Not only is there the ongoing debate regarding the split between the DNR and Clubs, but now there are clubs that are disputing what they are getting paid per mile.  The State is currently divided into a number of sections that have different reimbursement rates per mile of trail.  The higher funding in general is in the northeast part of the State.  The “officials” are reviewing a number of different options some of which could have a significant impact on what we get paid to groom and maintain our trails. I believe any change is still a couple years out.

This then lead to discussion regarding the potential reroute of our southern trail loop to exchange miles to try to get the trail extended from Welcome to Sherburn.  With the miles/distance to Sherburn we believe we would need another groomer.  With the unknowns with funding we decided to put the Sherburn expansion on hold.

I am sorry to report on so many negative things this month.  In general it all comes back to we need new members and volunteers to keep the club afloat and hold events like the Radar Run and Icekahana.  Otherwise we are going to burn out our current active members. We need some new blood with fresh ideas so we can maintain our Club and trail system for years to come.

Thank you for being a club member. Invite a friend to the meeting, encourage young people to become involved and Like/Follow/Share the Blizzard Snowmobile Club on Facebook and Instagram @ #blizzard_snowmobile_club_
