Greetings Blizzard Snowmobile Club Members!
Our next meeting is Monday September 4th at 7:30p in the Sisseton Room at the Holiday Inn.
Labor Day weekend is nearly here which will mark the unofficial end of Summer… It’s time to start preparing for the upcoming snowmobile season, races and safety training!
One of the first things on the docket is getting this year’s trail map put together. We will also be looking for some help peddling some race sponsorships and map ads. If everyone pitches in a little and spreads it out it is so much easier! The list and forms should be available at Monday’s meeting.
Last month there was some more discussion regarding making or purchasing a trail roller. What is the purpose of the roller you might ask? The idea is to pull a roller behind the groomer early in the season to pack the snow and establish a good base. It is quite difficult to pull the drag through fresh deep snow and can just make a mess. We discussed looking at making our own out of truck tires or a culvert. Come to the meeting to hear more about it and let us know what you think.
The NSSR and Icekahanna races are scheduled for January 13th with 14th being the backup dated for weather. Cross your fingers and hope we get good ice early!
Greg G. has our insurance company looking into coverages regarding youth participation in the Icekahanna. Hopefully we can get their blessing so more kids can race without the CC restrictions that are currently in place.
If you know of a section of trail that needs some work please let Brent, Roman or myself know. There will likely be a couple work days coming up over the next few months as crops begin to come out so stay tuned.
